Alt Entertainment and iRock’s scary date movie, ‘Ragini MMS’, is already in profit.
Ever since producer Ekta Kapoor announced the film on Bigg Boss with Salman Khan last year, the film, a hybrid of fact and fiction, has been buzzing extensively for its controversial and unconventional theme and content. The first Bollywood film to be shot entirely using a 24-camera set-up, has garnered more than 74,000 fans on its official interactive Facebook page and is trending on Twitter in Mumbai.
The Hindi and Telugu versions of the film were made at a cost of 1.3 cr. More than thrice that number has been generated pre-release as minimum guarantees from theatrical distributors.
The revenues by way of overages, and from the Hindi and Telugu home video, satellite and miscellaneous rights, are additional.
With ‘Love Sex Aur Dhokha’, ‘Taaryanche Bait’ (Marathi) and ‘Shor In The City’, brand Alt exemplifies the “tight budget-smart marketing-tidy profit” philosophy that has been eluding some of the bigger films.
