‘A R Rahman: The Spirit of Music’, a book written by renowned film historian Nasreen Kabeer was released by ace director Mani Ratnam in Mumbai.
Speaking on the occasion, Rahman said, “I thank my family, guru and all musicians for their support and love. All of them are stepping stones in my life.”
On his part, Mani Ratnam, said, there is more to Rahman than mere music. As much a fan I am of his music I am a larger admirer of him as a human being,” Mani Ratnam said of his friend.
Rahman’s family and his friends from the film industry including Ashutosh Gowariker, Ram Gopal Varma, Subhash Ghai, Imtiaz Ali, Govind Nihalani, Shyam Benegal, Javed Akhtar and Shivamani were present on the occasion.

The book talks about Rahman’s honesty, intelligence and his unpretentious shine, his life and the world of music. It also carries rare photographs and a music CD with some of his selected tracks.
